Grounding

We weren’t meant to walk on rubber soles. However, along our evolutionary journey, we adapted. Which is why we need to remember to reconnect to the physical earth as much as we can.

What exactly happens when you ground and what are the benefits you reap from it?

Grounding, also known as Earthing, is a physical and spiritual practice. It is a practice to connect to the Earth, Mother Gaia. When we do this, we absorb the much needed negative electrons the earth produces to neutralize the positive electrons in order to maintain a balance within our bio-energetic system.

When you are in direct contact the Earth's surface (hands, feet or body to organic ground), in this case walking barefoot on grass, you can absorb negative electrons from the ground, which can counteract the positive charges that accumulate in the body due to various factors such as environmental stressors. As much as grass is the preferred method, you can also ground on concrete and ceramic tile in a home if you walk barefoot on it.

Grounding can assist with:

  • reducing inflammation - which is linked to many diseases and pain.

  • improve sleep - help you sleep better and more deeply

  • easing stress and anxiety - also linked to being a root cause to many illnesses

  • Improved mood - improve your mood and enhance feelings of peace and contentment.

  • Improved circulation

  • promoting better blood flow and circulation (reduce blood pressure levels, increase heart rate variability, etc.)

  • and promoting better blood flow by acting as a natural antioxidant

  • Reduced pain - educe pain and muscle soreness.

  • Improved wound healing - speed up wound healing.

  • Improved immune function - improve your immune system function.

  • Improved physical function - improve your physical function and energy levels.

With that said, under the current condition of our world, we unfortunaltey are surrounded by toxins so we need alot more help and all the help we can get to continue to achieve a state of balance with our health which means incorporating exercise, clean diet & supplements, meditation, mindfulness, hydration and sufficient sleep. Grounding would be used in conjuction with all of your other mandatory practices. Grounding is an important piece within your collection of tools in your toolbox but this wouldn't replace the other you would need to incorporate...unless you are living off grid with no exposure to anything that is a man-made toxin.

With Grounding (or Earthing) we are balancing the body's electrical charge by taking in negative electrons from the ground. We have to have a balance of both negative and positive charges to maintain a balance with in our bio-energetic system. Same as with maintaining balanced your PH levels within your body - If we are too acidic, a host of illnesses will thrive. When your PH Levels are balanced, you thrive.

To ground,

  • you can simply go outdoors and put your bare feet or hands on the earth.

  • You can walk barefoot on the grass or just simple stand and BE.

  • You can sit on a chair instead if you prefer with bare feet on the grass.

  • If you're unable to go outdoors, you can energetically ground in a brief centering meditative moment by

    • starting with 3 deep breathes,

    • setting the intention to connect to the Earth's Core essence and imagining a cord starting from your root chakra, splitting and going through to either leg and down out of your feet,

    • continuing to reach down through the floor levels of your home, through the concrete, through the layers of sentimnet and rock, all the way down until you reach the core

    • Once there, spend a moment blending your connection before bringing the Earth's energy back up through that chord and into your body and chakras, traveling up an dout through your crown chakra **decide where it goes? out the crown or stays at the solar plexus?"

Happy Grounding!
